The price of a small pair never changes; the prize does. At 250bb a set can collect sixty times the call — depth turns speculative hands into premium ones.
Position appreciates
Every blind of depth adds another decision the button gets to make last. At 500bb, position is not an advantage — it is the terrain.
Commitment is earned
In a single-raised pot at 200bb, your stack is twenty-six times the pot (SPR 26) — top pair no longer plays for all of it. Big pots demand big hands, and keeping medium hands in medium pots is the whole skill.
